Hello everyone! I'm more of a Second Life communicator rather than Google Groups, so thanks Jay for picking up my slack as always!! I am in the process of making a "master" notecard in Second Life that will contain everyone's information, talk time and information and teleport landmarks. PLEASE be sure your avatar is part of the PodCampSL group in Second Life to receive this!!
If you are a PodCamp presenter, I need you to be sure of a few things...
1. Please be sure you have Skype and know how to use it. I will also need your ID ahead of time. Mine is LynetteRadio. What will happen is that you will Skype in to me, and I will take that feed and distribute it to the 100+ people attending, as well as record the session.
2. If you plan on mixing other audio sources for your presentation, like music, or sound bites, you need to be able to stream it with your voice into Skype.
3. Slides and graphics are not necessary, but if you do have them, I will need them no later than Wednesday January 24th in TIFF or JPG format. Quicktime video is able to be played in-world, but you have to host it, we can only link to the URL.
4. You need a Second Life account (they are free) and you need to have your avatar in-world for your presentation. Please get in and pratice getting around, sitting, chatting, and other general skills that will help you get around. Search out "Help Island" and teleport there if you need more help interacting in Second Life. Oh, be sure to search for and join the PodCampSL group in Second Life, it's how we are communicating and running security for the event.
5. If you haven't already done so, I need to speak via Skype and email to every presenter to to a dry run. If you haven't done this and/or picked a time slot for your talk, I can't risk leaving it until 'showtime'. Sorry! The test run won't take long and ensures that your audience can get most out of your talk. I will be moderating (along with Jay) the talks - audience memebers will be instructed to IM messages to us and we will ask them via audio so that you may answer them. Otherwise you'd need to scroll through pages of texting to find the questions during your talk.
Thanks so much!! If you have any questions, PLEASE email me at scrapcast@gmail.com or send a Skype request to LynetteRadio. Of course the easiest way to find me is in Second Life!
Jay and I are really excited to help bring such a cool concept to podcasters and Second Life residents!
